Lol....Yes, Yes and NO

Yeah pretty good car all in Graham. To be honest most people would probably have bought it and not really done much to it, it's that good, maybe refurbish the alloys ( slight kerbing to the front wheels as usual )

No to dad doing all the detailing - I'm helping / advising / supervising but making sure he's doing his fair share, trust me my arm was hanging off at the weekend as it is with washing / claybarring, washing, drying, cutting and polishing......

Should certainly be above average for any 19 year old to be driving around in to say the least, hoping he gets a good 3 years out of it at least.

Car in at Prestige Jaguar all morning / early afternoon and the steering rack has been replaced, the car is transformed and now as it should be.
It should've had a 4 wheel alignment too, but we had to leave asap as we had a appt with the window tinter, job done!
The car's going back to Prestige early next week to get the alignment sorted, In the meantime the windows tinted in dark smoke, really suit the car ad a great job done too.

Mirror glass also changed as they were showing sings of age, starting to get rough around the edges, Dougie changed them for me. I also asked him to leave the mirror caps off, these have been sanded down, primed, painted and lacquered, now much better. I'll put them back on the car in the next day or so.
Locking wheel nuts removed and replaced with standard nuts

R grill badge fitted, adds a nice splash of colour to the front grille, now needs a red growler to replace the grey one.
Red wheel centre caps and tyre valve caps test fitted and look great complimenting the red calipers, but then removed.
The existing new black ones had their tabs removed and sanded down, then siliconed above the top strut mountings, looks good.

Car in at Wheelpro Scotland tomorrow am for wheel refurbishment all round, now getting close.

I won't bore you with pics but will add them once all the work has been completed.

Ok so got the X type back today, alloys refurbed, windows tinted, centre caps and tyre valves added, R badge front. X type and 2.2D badge at rear.
Under the bonnet, JAGUAR hand painted Red heat resistant paint and leaper added, wheel centre caps modified to sit above the top strut mounts.
Hubs & calipers painted stock silver and red respectively

I'm sure there's load of other things but these are the highlights I guess.

The car isn't cleaned / polished and needs going over but in pretty good shape so far, needs a little attention, engine bay detailed etc.....

You mean the side repeaters within the door mirror assy Norri?
could be a good call but may be expensive for what they are.
I love the little chrome "Jaguar" finishers in place of the old style repeaters, a really nice touch.

He wanted to add a chrome leaper either side just above them but I just thought it was way too much, he agreed and left them off after some thought.

4 wheel alignment done today as part of the replacement steering rack last week, driving even better according to Connor.

Red Growler grille badge added and really sets off the look ( no pic yet )

I think he's getting the wheels of and redoing the calipers tomorrow / Wednesday with the Ferarri gloss Red for a much deeper shinier finish, and a mini detail.

Probably get pics then...

Well, Connor's had a little issue with his alloys.....
He's been very careful with potholes, lumps n bumps in the road, kerbs etc and they're immaculate except.....

He's noticed a small piece of paint that has bubbled / flaked away on one of them and isn't happy. He's checked the rest of them and nothing seems too untoward.
Anyhow, a quick visit to Wheelpro Scotland this morning by him to discuss and they're going to redo it. In fact after speaking to them it seems he's a chip off the old block, saying he wasn't sure that the rest of them would hold up now either and the set should be done.....The guy agreed, so he's going in 2 weeks on Friday to have them redone.

I think he's looking for some decent weather to get new pics to upload showing his plate and the now about as finished as can be X type.......
He's just loving this car soo much

Well, it's been a while since this has been updated so here goes........

A quick wash today ( he's just sent the pics ) and she's looking pretty good.
He recently serviced her, albeit a little earlier than required but going by what I taught him and better than late / not at all.
She's also recently had a full set of Michelins put on all round and the new Climair wind deflectors as shown in the pics look really good I think, set her off quite nicely.

He's also had his plate put on the car too so that's pretty cool, and is talking about wheels off and calipers / hubs redone in time for the meet along with engine bay detailing.
Pics below.....not the best but you get the idea........

Jim: you do realize that you have put Connor on a slippery slope? I did that with one of my sons, starting with an X-Type, then he bought another, then a Range Rover Evoque, which has been faultless for 3 years, but the Jaguar bug is well entrenched: he is waiting to take delivery of his new F-Pace. But he is well past 19...there is nothing like a Jaguar except a Jaguar.

Sov, you're bang on the money there, I've already had that chat with all 3 of them as they're all currently in X types
Funnily enough, Connor being the youngest has the latest model with all singing all dancing added extras. It's a beautiful looking car and he gets tons of attention in it and lots of compliments

In fact he got unwanted attention from the local police the other evening as he was leaving the pub with a friend. He was stopped * blues and two's flashing* and a flashlight shone in his face.
He had done nothing wrong, just a stop and check.
The policeman asked if it was his car, intimating he was so young to drive a nice car like that, Connor replied yes it was.
The policeman said that he was stopped as a lot of "High end" cars had been taken recently.
The policeman asked about driving licence and insurance
Connor being switched on said.....driving licence here, Insurance fully covered and due for renewal in May, Mot due October and 4 new tyres recently fitted and car serviced...lol
The cop asked if he had been drinking, Connor replied yes, he had 2 cokes during his time in the pub.........and off he went.

This fell in nicely with what I had been telling him, even the cop said it was a "high end" car and the supposed reason for the stop.

I said to Connor some time ago, he had better start saving hard as he'd be looking to change in perhaps 2-3 years, a decent deposit and a small car loan would see him into an XF or XE maybe?
If he's not careful and forward thinking.........he'll be going backwards into a Vauxhall Astra or Ford Focus.....

They're both nice cars but not a patch on what he's currently driving......He's got a great head start and if he wants to keep ahead of the game, he better be on his toes....lol

Connor sounds like a young man with his head on straight, and a good father.
