Default Anyone know what this red sensor(?) Is under the windshield cowl?

2003 X-Type 3.0. Was replacing the original nasty cabin filter and cleaning under the cowl among some other things. Came across these 2 red what I think are sensors of some sort? First I thought they may have been a feature that was basically blank that I didn't have. But the more I looked at it that does not appear to be the case there's one on each side both pointing towards the passenger side and there is an electrical connector going into the back of these red things. Pictures on the passenger side, right side.

I would venture to guess that is the temp sensor for telling you the exterior temp. But, that is just a logical guess.

I would think that is a logical gas however there's two of them one on each side and they're directly behind the motor which I think would throw off the reading if that or the case.

Looks more like one of the two connectors for the heated windscreen. Perhaps your car is fitted for but not with...

The exterior temperature sensor is behind the lower radiator air inlet.

I think you got it. This was on my short list. I hadn't yet figured out if I had this feature (Bought this at auction and stll in the initial refurb phase, plus it hasn't been cold enough to even test them!). This is why options are so funny - most vehicles have basically all the parts minus like "the last mile" for a feature. Oftentimes, it can be retrofitted easily for FAR cheaper than one would have paid originally at the dealer. That being said, I am not sure I have the pigtail to the windscreen (maybe requires a different windscreen). I think the mystery can be marked plausibly solved!
