Default Auto to Manual swap

As mentioned in an earlier thread, I am having transmission issues. I am seriously considering swapping out the automatic transmission to a manual 5 speed. Is there a separate ECU and TCM, or is everything included in the ECU. Is the transfer case the same on both manuals and autos, where I wouldn't have to worry about a replacement TC as well. Will the flywheel bolt right up, and is a there a specific bell-housing for the manual, or does the auto have a mount location for the slave or a hole for the slave hose if it's remote. Outside of the linkage, shifter mechanism, and interior bits, am I missing anything.

Thanks,

Dave

I have never swapped an auto to manual but the manual gearbox cars did NOT have a TCM. You can probably reconfigure the ECM to manual gearbox so it does not try to look for the CAN message that will never come!!!

A salvage yard car with all the components will be a better choice than to try to piece the car together. Just get all the parts side-by-side and transfer the shifters etc.
