Question Automatic trans.

Hi JagNuts;

I've notice a little quirk in my '03 3 litre. When I accelerate normally from a stop, the transmission seems to be in a hurry to 'get through' 3rd gear. The engine will rev to about 2 grand in first, then go to second until around 2 grand also, but it only wants to stay in third for a second or two before switching into fourth. Once in fourth, it doesn't downshift into third as soon as I would have expected if you hit a bit of a hill under neutral throttle. My 8 downshifts more eagerly; I know the transmissions aren't the same, and it's not really a problem, unless it's the sign of trouble ahead. Any ideas?

Sounds normal. The gearing on this car is a little weird - I also find myself wishing it had an extra overdrive gear for the highway. But in the city I could already be in 3rd or 4th gear before I've even gotten across the intersection!

what if you put sport mode on? or if you 'put the pedal to the carpet'?
