autotranny refill cap?
I've been looking those b/w drawings and I can't say I'm sure which one is it and is there alternatives, can you tell me are these two right plugs No1 I opened this and there's rubber seal in this, but how is it possible to put anything in through this tiny hole... No 2 I haven't opened this yet, but I'd like to, is it ok!

I'm a first time Jag owner, but I've been a machanic all my life. I haven't looked or done anything with the trans in my 02 x-type. But I've been told that it's not atf it's hydraulic, but some one else told me it was atf. Then I was also told not to touch it, cause it was made so no one would get into it. Don't know if this helpped any, I'm still not sure, if it comes down to where I have a proble with the trans, I'm going to the dealer and ask questions, at least I know for sure they should know the right answers...LOL Hope this help in some way.

Ok now I get it, I don't know why I have been looking so wrong place, but this makes sense isn't that tranny cooler over that area, in this pic it's barely seen http://gallery.photo.net/photo/11290932-lg.jpg

I have read many threads on this forum that state you cannot drain and refil the tranny fluid and that it is a "lifetime" fill with no changes needed. Also that there is no cap or plug to remove in order to refill the tranny.
Is this new info we are getting? And can the tranny fluid be drained and refilled?

Because of my low time experience with Jaguars I don't want to use imperatives, still in this case, I'm on steady ground to say, that there's no lubricants that holds all the qualities same all the time... there's many things reducing the quality of transmission oil as friction, variations of temperature( causing condensing) and all those particles that comes into gear oil, makes all together life pretty hard for those lubricants and mechanics. When the quality as viscosity reduces, mechanics are getting more stress because of increasing friction. So at least we can help those under great pressure working machineries with best available lubricants... that's why I drain old oil away and put new in every 12 months or 50-60k kilometers. I don't know what they think in technical department of Jaguar to make this kind of statement, sealed for life, because of this life will be a quite miserable for long run, maybe they don't like aging at all and they prefer dying younger in these days.
Yes there's draining plug and level check tube as well and now I found also refill cap.

If you mean this breathing vent http://gallery.photo.net/photo/11308376-lg.jpg
or maybe someone knows more specific term for that, I suppose if you have overfilled tranny, the extra oil flows away from this vent...
PS. does anyone knows, what's this electrical plug No1 connected with + wire, I can't see any place where it could go.

On mine that plug is connected to the backside of the battery box, but it appears to be a dummy connection on the box side and not electrically connected to anything.
