Default AWD + SNOW!!

Hi all,
its been snowing here like real bad all morning and there was a nice layer of thick white snow all over the place.
I decided to go check the AWD on the X and see just how good it is - my first chance to test it, you see!
Anyways - where I live, as you back out the driveway onto the road, you are faced with a gentle slope ( and 2 speed bumps ), the slope then gets steeper and as you get nearer the top it turns sharply to the left and gets steeper still. Obviously this is a real nightmare in icy / snowy conditions.
As it was still fresh ( no tyre tracks at all - virgin snow) I tried the Saab first and didn't get too far. I'm an experienced driver and tried everything - no joy!
Time for the X !!
Reverses out of the driveway and onto the road, Off she goes sure footed as you like, never slipped once, just steadily ploughed through it all, over the speed bumps, up the slope takes the turn and out onto the main road. WOW!!!
So So cool and very impressive!
I have since saw 4-5 other vehicles attempt it, up n down, up n down, back n forth, slippin n slidin all over the place.

I love my AWD X!

Jim C

I'm jealous! Since I bought my car in November, we haven't had enough snow or ice to even TRY to spin a wheel. Well, once. After 3-4 attempts to get it "fishtailing" and it wouldn't, turning on to a main road from a stop, I tossed it sideways with the clutch and it bit and took off like a shot hitting 2nd. I giggled like a schoolkid the rest of the way to town!

Never mind Rudy, it WILL come.
Pma my friend PMA (Positive mental attitude)
Re the fishatailing etc....lol.....I remember once I had a Mondeo Ghia X with TC/ABS/ etc etc and decided to take a bend way too fast essentially throwing it sideways at a bus stop ( just to see if it worked as well as they said it did!!)...Well, it kicked in and just pulled the car back onto track no problem.
It was fantastic, having said that if it dint work, I owed the local council for a new bus stop and a shed load of damage to my Ghia X.........lol

AWD rocks........c'mon big guy, give us more of the white stuff!!!

I didn't get much snow this year. I usually have to get in 4WD to get up my not so steep drive way. Melting snow turns into ice where the driveway meets the pavement. I have never experienced wheel spin in the Jag. Obviously a great AWD system.

Havn't tried driving the car tamely with the traction control system off to see how well it drives. I can't resist flooring it when the tcs is off! I love drifting in this car! How many of you have the tcs on your car? I'll have to get back to you all and let you know what I think of the awd with tcs off if it ever snows again here in Michigan. All of the stuff we have gotten is useless, barely enough to make the roads wet. By the way with the tcs on this car is crazy how well she drives. I tried to get the back end to come around and it seemed like the tcs corrected it so it wouldn't even come around. Man was it awesome-----but that was months ago now!!!

I made it in one piece!![sm=icon_rock.gif] I Did have a few scares thou. Overall when your cruising and tracking your solid. But if you have to stop or take a crazy curve your just askin for trouble. I slid throu two different curves but was able to control thru it no prob...The only thing that was crazy was when I started to brake for a stop sign and ABS just started pumping but I kept going forward into the street. Luckily nobody was coming around the corner at the time.[sm=wootwoot.gif]
