AWD System
I have a 2.5 SE Auto 2007 and i am wanting some information on how the AWD system works. I was manoeuvring in some soft snow and ice recently and while reversing lost traction and the only wheel turning was the nearside rear so tried to go forward but still the rear wheel only spun and basically i was stuck so had to get the shovel out. So after this i thought is there something wrong with the AWD system ?, surely if one wheel loses traction then the system should sense it and send drive to the front, does it work like this or have i got a fault?, I have no buttons or switches to turn anything off so i presume it all works electronically, and if that is the case is there a sensor that is not working ? I would like some information on this as i dont want to look an idiot if i take it in to the dealers with a fault if one doesnt exist.
If any of you clever people out there can give me any advice i would be greatfull.
Cheers, Brian

no fault most likely.
all three diffs on your car are open - no limited slip. and DSC+traction is an option what would give you a button near the cupholder if you have it.
with open differential awd, you can only get the equal amout of torque that is spinning that wheel to be divided up to the other wheels. If you dont have winter tires, then what you are dividing up to the other wheels is next to nothing. That is why you dont move.
