Well, I can't really say it stands for "race" because these turds are slower than $hit...

I was thinking the "R" meant "Rear of Car". That's more self-explainatory that the "R" on the gearshifter - that one means "Go Backwards".

I wanna yank the "X-Type" and the "2.5" emblems off my car, maybe replace it with "Supercharged" and "5.9" (no one in North Dakota has seen a Jag before, they'd never notice), or better yet, just leave the trunk lid (boot cover?) bare.

Any suggestions how to do so with the least likelyhood of damaging the finish? Just melt them off with the heatgun? or scrape them off with a puttyknife??

Hey, Exexpat - you hit the South Skagit Hiway up there in Washington State in your Jag yet? Or Chuckanut Drive? Baker Lake Drive? Mountain Loop Trail out of Granite Falls? Hiway 9 (SR9) from the North end of Lake Washington to the Canadian Border?

All nice drives, lots of scenery and curves. Can't wait to do them myself (again, this time with the Jag!).

I just pulled all mine off. The goo can be removed with acetone. Just make sure to give it a good bath and rewax after.

Acetone will ruin your clear coat if you rub it in. If you are debadging, use a heat gun to soften it up, dental floss to gently pull it off, and Goof Off to get the...goof...off.

Agreed. Use bug and tar (kerosene), let it soak on any residue, and then wipe off. No acetone.

That's funny!

Anyways...heat the emblems up some, slide the dental floss or fishing line behind and goof off, WD40, etc to remove the residue. Wash that off and wax up. Good to go.

no acetone or goof off, it can remove clearcoat and base coat. I've used my Safeway club card (with heat if you have a hair dryer or heat gun) to debadge about a dozen cars. Then use Meg's fine cut cleaner or cleaner wax with patience and a terry cloth or microfibre towel to remove the left over adhesive until all remnants are gone and the surrounding paint is as shiny as where the letters once were.
