Battery Dash Light & Starting in Limp Mode.
Hi,
My 05 X Type 2.0d developed a Battery dash light fault. I have read on here about battery cables so I had some new ones made up and I fitted them.
I noticed no change and the alternator was charging on minute and not the next, so I replaced the alternator.
After fitting and rebuilding, the battery light came on again after the first start, but I noticed that a good 13.7v was being supplied to the battery.
I checked everything I fitted and it seemed good, so tried to start again and after about the 3rd attempt it fired up, but the rev counter stuck at 500 rpm for about 3-5 minutes with the engine management being displayed and nothing happened when I pressed the accelerator pedal.
After 3-5 minutes it jumped up to normal idle mode and could rev up fine. But the battery dash light was displayed again after 30 seconds idling.
I finally started on limp mode again, waited for it to come to normal the thought to take it for a run as i thought it may reset something. But it didn't.
I am now at the position of starting on limp mode for 3-5 minutes and the battery light still showing.
Any ideas? Im lost.
Thanks, Phil
