Default Battery Positive Cables Gone Bad

My battery positive cables have gone bad as they get hot when the car is running. I want to know if these cables are special or I can buy cables from the spares shop and replace them. The price at the dealer is way too high.

You can buy them from anywhere just make sure that they are at least the same gauge (thickness of the copper wire not the covering) In my bmw I used welding cable because I could buy it by the foot.

Thanks. I found a spares shop where I can buy the length I want and buy the battery terminals and lugs seperately. Immediately the car is started the positive terminal at the battery gets hot. The battery is new. Anyway this was happenning even before I replaced the battery.

Hi everyone,

Just bought a new positive cable to replace the old one, but found that there is no room at all around the alternator. I tried different wrenches, sockets ...but nothing works. What kinda a tool should I get to remove the damn 12mm nut?! I do not want to remove the fan assembly (its ridiculous). I was thinking about a flex extension but not sure it will help in this case. Any advise?

Thank you guys in advance!

This shouldn't be to hard to do if you lift your front end off the ground and remove the under engine tray. I could then reach the cable end from underneath. Give this a try cause thats how i did mine.

Thx for the tip. Tried to reach the nut from underneath but it was even more complicated, huh. Anyway, did everything from the top. It was quite a challenge, but
