Black X, on Black 18's....FINALLY BACK!
Well gents..it finally happened. I was on my way home from work and had to pass through a really crappy area at 2 am, and they were doing construction. The workers left a metal cover plate at an angle, i swerved to avoid it, but was about an inch off....It gashed my 2 right tires (not even 4k miles on them). So it took about 3 hours to get a towtruck out to where i was (in the middle of the damn pojects in brooklyn) and get my baby home. About 12 crackheads offered to help me push the car back to my house for a cheeseburger, but i had to decline....I'm gonna miss my 18's bt they are both bent, and the sidwalls shredded. Im gonna have to puththe stockers back on, but i love the tires so much im going to get the same kind for my stock wheels.
I know my incident isnt as severe as o4's or biggies, but damn it pissed me off for a while. I guess i have a 4 seater again though. Hopefully she will still ride as sweet as she did with the wider tires

Sorry for hearing that nasty incident . Keep in mind , I believe you could still damage your tires even with 16"s .It is for sure the bigger rims the more expensive repair .
oh absolutely, but i'm also alittle relieved becuase the 18's were rubbing so much that i had the baby the car over every bump and imperfection. So im not going the be putting them back on. oh well...live and learn.
i love my car, but im far beyond finished spending more money accessorizing her. all i want to do is pay it off now. But maybe this lack of enthusiasm will pass when i get over spending the money on the tow and new tires for my stockers...

**** somekidz......that sucks man, sorry to hear that.
Its like a kick in the nutz aint it? Expensive lesson I guess, but, as long as you n your baby r ok.......you can bounce back.
Jim
sorry to hear bro. I ran over a muffler at 50 mph with my old VW Corrado. Effed up my rims too. I know the feeling...

Somekidz, im sorry to hear that man. Im sure you could get the city to pay for ure wheels and tires, and if ure lucky for the tow.cos its their fault for having the plate on the ground. id write to them or try calling them. I mean no offence to nineball, but i dont think you go wit the stock chromes, i saw an X with em and made it look tacky, even though it was stock.

They have contingency funds for this sorta thing.....You don't ask you don't get.
Who knows, a few phone calls maybe a letter or two and you could get reimbursed plus!!

Somekidz.......call your local government office and explain what happened and ask to speak to the relevant dept, probably the roads dept.
Ask to speak to the supervisor / manager etc and explain your situation and what happened etc and that you feel you have a claim. They should give you details of what you need to do from there to start the claim process.
Obviously pics, witnesses and amount to repair the danage will be needed too.
Go for it and good luck

Sorry to hear about that somekidz....that does suck....but I would check into your offices to see who could help you out! Go back to where it happened and see if you can find what you ran over and see what trucks they had parked at the job site because usually the companies that fix the stuff aren't even government offices the project is usually contracted out to a construction company that does the work unless the road comission were the ones doing the work but they usually only do the maintenance work like patching the potholes here in Michigan....good luck but I would hound anybody down to see what you could do...
Well my first bit of good news just got to me now, i bought the tires from Tirerack.com, and they are replacing both blown ones under roadhazard warranty! NOW, im off to roll my fenders before i mount the virgin treads = ). i highly recomend tire rack guys, it was no hassle at all, i just said they blew, and they are shipping me new ones...period.

Top news somekidz.........brilliant mate, I'm pleased for you.
Nice to see that our sponsors are treating us well, and a good plug for them there from yourself......all good!
What about the rims though? Weren't they damaged?
Jim
the rims dont seem to be bent, but there is a small nick in their surface, about the half the size of the nail on my index finger. I dont think will effect their mating surfaces though...i guess i'll find out in a few days when my new ones arrive.

Maybe a job for the "alloy wheel repair kit"......as posted a little while ago somekidz?
Or would you get them / it professionally done?
I'd guess lokkin at at your car, that you wouldn't be leaving " that little nick" on show for long

Jim
here we go gents.. I have a heat gun, a wooden bat..and a free morning tomorow. wish me (and my paint) luck. Ill post before and after pics, hopefully they wont get massacred. I gotta think positive.
Hey somekidz you there? How'd it go...if you haven't done it yet good luck bud! Good to hear that they helped you out....road hazard is cheap too...how long does it last for? How do they know your mileage? Thats definitely something to look for...I'll probably end up buying from there as they had a nice tire back when I was looking for like 70 bucks and it had a really good rating...actually cheapest and best performing of almost all tires...can't remember which one though???
