Default bolt pattern on wheels

I noticed that tire rack shows the bolt pattern is 5-108. a guy on ebay is selling a nice set of winter tires and rims that he says will fit jaguar x type 2004 but the bolt pattern is 5-100. I doubt if these will fit. or will they?

mphy98, will they bolt on to the car, probably. Will you be able to make the car roll, if the wheel bolts up. Will the wheels remain on the car after the first pot hole. Not a chance. Something about dragging the underside of the car down the road just doesn't do it for me.

What is going to happen is you will be putting a lot of side force on the wheel studs (ie, trying to bend the nuts out towards the tread of the tire. This is going to put a lot of stress on the studs. When you hit the first pot hole, this is going t oput a lot more stress on the studs and more than likely result in their catastrophically failing. Not a good time.

If I was you, I would be looking for something with the proper bolt pattern. Don't forget that you also need a wheel that is hub centric (ie, the weight of the car rests on the center hub, not with the wheel studs).

the x is 5x108
now, i do NOT recommend this but in some cases you can get away with 5x110 and use wobblenutts and hubcentric rings. (any aftermarket rim should have hub rings regardless, it reduces vibrations and takes strain off the lugs.)

i dont think you will be able to force the 5x100 rim on.

5x108 is a pain to find rims for, i finally came across a set of 20s that suited the car (for our taste) and it took about 2yrs.
