Default Brake guide pins

Am replacing front pads and rotors on my 2004. I took the guide pins out of the caliper bracket for cleaning and noticed that one of them has a rubber sleeve on the end. Does it matter which hole this pin goes back in?

I've just done all 4 brakes on my 2008 version and it's the 1st time they've been done. The calipers are the same as the earlier model and I found that the pin with rubber on was in the bottom on the front calipers but in the top on the rear calipers. I don't k now why they are different, probably something to do with the front calipers being in front of the disc and the rear vice versa?

Yes it does need to go back the same way.
If incorrect lubricant is used the rubber will swell and the calipers will barely move.
Use a synthetic, rubber friendly grease.
As you noticed, the front is different to the rear, keep them that way

The best thing to use on the pins is silicone paste.

Used CRC Brake and Caliper Grease. Bought rotors and Akebono ceramic pads from RockAuto. There's good YouTube videos put up by English company called Autodoc. Brakes went together nicely; now just waiting on a replacement rear shock bolt to get car off blocks and back in service. Sorry for wrong picture orientation - took with my phone and don't know how to reorient them.
