Default Broken AC Compressor

Well i took my 2003 jaguar X-type to the jaguar dealer because the ac would not get cold at all. They told me that the AC compressor is broken and that i need to pay about 1300 to get it fixed. Is there anything i can do to try to fix it, any guides. Also i bought a extended warranty from continental warranty because i just got this car from a friend, i bought it for 9500 originally, but he took 1500 off because i told him abou the AC not working.

So i plan on waiting a month or month an a half before a make a claim about the AC compressor because than they will think i just bought the warranty because somthing was broken. They didnt do any inspection but they did ask me if it had any problems, i said not that i know of. Has anyone had experince for continental warranty? I paid 3300 for a 6 year/100000 mile warranty that covers almost everything in the car, but after reading reviews after buying the warranty (stupid me) i heard these people arnt as great as the say they are. Well i want to know if anyone has had any firsthand experince and how i can fix my compressor and how can i replace it myself if I end up canceling the warranty or just to try because I heard the clutch could be loose, but i have no idea were in the engine is the compressor.

Thanks alot guys,

Saurabh

Let's see. You took $1500 of the selling price to fix a problem that will cost you $1300. You are $200 ahead. Now you want someone else to pay for the repair? Does anyone else see a problem here?

Does that help?

He is my friend, he said he would take 1500 off because that is half the warranty cost. He told me to ask online if there was a fix that we could attempt rather than spending so much. There is also an oil leak in the engine, but it is not serious yet, thus it would be cheaper if we bought the warranty in the long run we can get everything fix for a good price.

Well when the RPM's go up around 5, the AC gets cold, but im not sure what that means, so im thinking maybe the clutch is not working properly?

Well after trying to see what the problem is, as the RPMs increase, the AC gets colder, but when the car is stopped or at a light, the AC is not cold. So what am i dealing with here? When i put a freon gage, it is in the "red" zone for too much preasure.

Sounds to me like your compressor is fine..take your car to a qualified auto refrigeration repair place and have them evacuate your charge and redo it properly..you maybe OVERCHARGED with Refrigerant from whoever sold it to you...Also make sure your electric radiator fans are running while the A/C is on..plus use recirculate, it will get colder sooner and is easier on the system overall.
