georgeky, based on the age of the car and the motor that you have, odds are if you are going to have a fault with the car it will be one of the following:
-rear wheel speed sensor reluctance rings will fail and result in an ABS light and CEL light on the dash. Unfortunately, the easiest fix is to replace the half shaft for the associated wheel. The OBD code will be C1165 or C1175
-P0171 or P0174 OBD code from a vacuum leak. Take a look here as there are a few reasons as to why this will happen and the fixes are all listed on this site.
-rear wheels will start leaning in on the top or you will see excessive wear on the inside edge of the tires. This is caused by either a bad upper arm for the rear suspension (look on this site, there is an upgrade you can install that will fix this) or the lower/forward arm has worn out bushings and this causes the rear tires to start pointing in towards the center of the front bumper.
-e-brake lever sticks on a caliper, leading to bad gas mileage and/or excessive brake pad wear. Unless you get a special tool and want to tear apart a caliper to fix this, the only other solution is to buy a new caliper and replace. This will be noted by either the e-brake lever being able to be pulled really high and the e-brake still not engaging or after a 5 minute drive, one of the rear wheels will be extremely hot if you place your hand near the rim.
Because you have the 2.1L motor, you do not have to worry about the transfer case issues. ANything else is kinda a hit and miss situation.
