Buying a 02 X-type 3.0 and need help
I have looked through the forums and have found some great info from you all concerning any issues. When I go to look at the car this week, what are the major areas that need to be looked at on the 2002 3.0 model? I am concerned about the rust issue alot of you are haveing, and the a/c issue with the vents not putting out the same temperature of air. If there are any other areas I need to look at to save myself time and money later, please let me know. Thank you

Since the select edition warranty is 6 years from the in-service, the very early '03 model year cars will be very unlikely to be offered with select. This is apart from the troubles the early ones are afflicted with. Got for an '05 or newer.

If it were me, I'd go for an '04 or newer. Most of the teething problems were resolved by mid-2004, and the quality improved drastically. I've got a friend with an '02, and she's had nothing but problems. My '05 on the other hand has been rock-solid reliable so far, with absolutely no issues.
