Dshearer, do you notice the problem at all speeds being travelled or just when idle/stopped. If you notice it only at very low speeds/stopped, then odds are you are looking at an engine cooling fan issue. If this occurs at all speeds, then I would first check your freon level. After that, you may have a clog in your A/C system, leading to the system not being able to flow enough freon, leading to what you are seeing. As for where the clog is, hard to say. Both of these can be found if you take the car to a shop to have them give the A/C system a once over. Should be fairly cheap for them to check out the system. From there, you can get a feeling for what it will cost to correct.

Dshearer, I missed the fact that you specified a temp on the controller. For some reason I was reading it as vehicle speed. My mistake. Based on it being a set temperature that it flops (should be hearing the damper inside the dash moving), it sounds like you either have:
1) temp sensor in the dash has failed and is sending the A/C system a constant 60F signal (or the associated wiring is bad), or
2) there is an internal failure for the A/C system computer, leading it to mis-interpret what the sensors are telling it, therefore leading to your issue.

Either way, it is sounding like an electrical issue. I don't know how you are with wiring, but if you want to take a stab at making things work, let me know. I'll see what I can dig up.

Oh yeah, do you have the system that is integrated into the radio or do you have the external (not built into the radio) setup? That may affect some things.

It's an 04 x-type 2.5L 5 speed. Everything is intergrated. I'm not sure if the low and high setting is controlled by the climate control. But when I turn the temp to 61 the whole a/c system turns off. The engine fan will stop and the a/c clutch also.

I would have the high pressure side and the low pressure side of the compressor checked. It could be a compressor problem

I don't know what the Jaguar spec are for the compressor but off the top of my head these readings seem to be OK

I think Thermo is asking if you have NAV, or is the Radio a separate unit. Also is your unit the climatrol thing that you set the temp and then it maintains it or .....

I don't have nav. I think it must be something wrong with climate control. I read somewhere the low and high setting by passes the climate control system which would explain why my a/c does work fine on the low setting.
