Default can you start the x type with the Climate Control removed

Hello guys.

I need to remove the climate control unit from the car, "need" here is for "want" in order to replace the LCD, however it is my daily car now.

so is there a way i can make it start and run with this unit out ?
Thank you

I don't think so, the climate control units are part of a system management loop. Taking it (or several other components) out breaks the loop and then the car won't start.

This is the CAN Bus layout. You can see that the Climate Control Module is in the run between the ECU and the Instrument Panel etc! so removing it will disconnect an essential link. Bearing in mind that the transmission Module and the Selector module are omitted in manual cars, it may be (I take no responsibility for your trying!) that jumper links for the Yellow and Green CAN wires will work. Note the wires should be twisted together as per the existing circuit.

Thanks for the reply.

I will try to get a spare one before i attempt doing this,,,,,
I still remember when i took it out the first time to replace the LEDs with white ones, turned out to be a huge job so instead of replacing them i simply added a white strip on top of the LCD

but when i tried to start the car it gave me all kinds of errors and it was some scary time before i realized (thanks to this forum) that i had to put it back to get the car running.
