Default Can't even get into my trunk!!

I'm having a problem with my keyless entry . When i push the button on remote, everything works except my locks ( lights, alarm, panic button, etc). I can even hear the clicking of actuation from the glovebox area when I try to use locks , but they will not unlock the doors. Subsiquentley, I can't open my trunk. Any ideas? I have a 2004 X-Type with no manual keyed entry for the trunk.

Here is a diagnostic TSB.

In 2001 I asked the question at X-Type intro course "What if the electric boot release fails on the car"

The answer was to drill a hole in the left tail light assy with a hole saw, hammer and tear the plastic housing out of the way and reach in to the release handle.

The light was the easiest and least expensive way into the boot.

I actually had to do this twice when I worked at the dealer (everyone wanted to watch)

Wonder if you'd be better off in the long run getting a new key?
