I don't know what you're looking at on Ebay, but the X Type doesn't have a dedicated security module; it's built into the General Electronics Module (GEM) that controls a whole heap of other functions as well. Perhaps if you post the details of your problem, members here will be able to help?

Check the simple things first.

My 2006 was doing not unlocking itself when you get out, except for the driver door. Similar with the key fob- would open driver, but double-tap for all 4 doors would not work.

Turned out to be a sticky door latch. Spray some silicone lube on it and open/close a few times. Takes 60 seconds, and not a bad thing to do anyway. Try that first no matter what probs you are having, would be my $0.02.

What actually happens is the car used to unlock with the key fob but now it doesn't,
I have new batteries in tbe keyfobs but I get no beep when trying to recode them.
the car locks and unlocks with the key but not by using the buttons.

Did you ever find a solution to this problem?
