check engine light
I had the coolant temp sensor disconnected for a while today and had the ignition on but never cranked or started the car. I was trying to figure out how to trick the fan controller to come on early or stay on.
Anyway, after I plugged the sensor back in, and started the car, the Chk Engine light is on but the car drives OK. Is there a way to make it forget whatever it thought was wrong and go back to normal? The high engine temp warning light came on at one point because I had a very low resistance across the sensor connector, but again: I did not actually run the motor during any of these simulations. Thank you.

Thank you for reply; this is what I get for answering my own questions. But nobody has an answer for how to manually force on the cooling fans with some kind of override switch? That is in my other recent posting.
