Exclamation Code 1699 and P1000

Need to get emissions done I am already two weeks over do. I had put on defoulers and once I did I had gotten two new codes p1699 and some code about abs or front right wheel. Well the wheel code after I cleared it didn't come back on. Defouler trick worked also. But p1699 cause MIL so wont pass test. Anyone know how to knock this out to pass. Car runs fine 28mpg on dash she says. No problems. A/C comes on and off when it wants to and sometimes is hot when suppose to be cold. Never charged but yea it cuts off and on when it feels like it no problem to me but I do need to pass. Any help and advice would be great.

Renengade, the code you are describing is a CAN bus failure. Since you have recently done some work, I would be looking at the area where you did the work and see if you have any loose connections. Specifically, there are 2 wires that run between the ECM, TCM and to other computers in the car that transfer all sorts of data. It is these 2 wires that are having issues. From my resources, it is saying to specifically look at the 2 wires (at pins 123 and 124) at the ECU/ECM as those are the wires where the problem is being detected. But, the problem can be anywhere from where those wires are connected back to the next computer.

Hope this gives you atleast a starting point. I would say to think about where all you touched installing the defoulers and then seeing if you damaged a wiring bundle in that area. That would be your most likely source of the problem.

Renegade, the ECM is located in the engine bay under the plastic cover (cowl) at the base of the windshield on the passenger side. It is the computer box that you see there. What you are looking for is some damaged wiring right there. Otherwise, when you had the defoulers installed, where did they work and what did they take apart. You need to be looking in those areas for any signs of damaged wiring (if you see copper, you have a problem). Any sort of damaged wiring will be obvious. if in doubt, odds are it is bad.

Cleared code p1699 and p1000 by replacing faulty AC unit.
