code p0010 recovery procedure
Hi: I suddenly got this CEL code which turns out to be failed valve timing actuator on A bank. Well, packrats chewing through those two wires on that plug in the middle of the night will do that to a jaguar! I fixed the wires (and set a trap) but now I am trying to plan how to execute the reset procedure described in JTIS. Has anyone successfully followed these instructions?
"Idle for thirty seconds, then accelerate through entire range, then decelerate, then drive the car for five minutes at sustained speed 30-60 mph, then rev through entire range, then idle for thirty seconds." Then I guess shut off the engine and restart?
I do not want to redline my car just for this; or do they mean a sharp jab to the pedal or what DO they mean? Thank you. --Tom

Personally I would just clear the code with my code scanner and drive normally. Unless you have a smog inspection coming up very soon I don't see the benefit of going through the whole sequence.
