Default Codes P0175 and P0172

Banks1 and 2 running rich.

Car sputtered when I hit the gas and the light and codes came on. I have been waiting for a code since I got the car for a heaviness that I could not explain. Where should I start with this?

not sure on Jag codes but on my Chevy truck similar codes directed me to a dirty Mass air sensor, its in the air filter line. Parts stores sell a spray to clean them. Be careful cause their kinda fragile.

Thanks for your reply. I already cleaned the MAF, so I just ordered a new one along with a new filter. I am also interested in replacing the fuel pressure sensor but I don't know where it's located.

Here's the extract from the Jaguar DTC listing for P0172 and P0175:

There's more sensors than just the Fuel Pressure Sensor could be the cause.

The diagram of the FPS (item 3) could help you locate it:

Thanks guys!!

That's precisely the info I needed. I am glad I got the codes before I bought the o2 sensors. I have always known my problem was related to fuel since it seems to come and go as the gas level changes. At this point I have ordered a new MAF, new fuel pressure sensor, and PCV valve. I also have a new Coolant temp sensor that I have not installed yet. Hopefully this will take care of my high fuel consumption and heavyness problems.

I will let you know how it goes once the parts

By the way, I will probably have to depressurize the fuel rail to change the fuel pressure regulator sensor....does anyone know how to do that ?

You can either wrap a rag around a small screwdriver, and press the schreader valve on the fuel rail, or you can pull the fuel pump fuse or relay, and crank the engine a few times. I would try the method of pulling the fuel pump fuse and starting the engine. This is fuse #17 in the passenger compartment under the dash, NOT the engine compartment fuse box. If there is pressure in the lines the engine should start, but stall out after a second to two if you pull this fuse. That should relieve most of the pressurized fuel.

The above came from this post.

Update on this:

The codes never came back; but I went ahead and replaced the air filter, I installed a new fuel pressure regulator, new MAF sensor and PCV valve. I was hoping that whatever caused the codes to come up was also causing the heaviness that seems to come and go in this car, but no difference thus far

Hello everyone, codes have still not come back, but I am sure they will soon. Car is still heavy and I have had a couple of instances where it has idles poorly at at stops, almost like a misfire.

I have ordered the vacuum tube that goes from the pressure regulator to the back of the engine, although I am not sure mine is bad.

Yesterday, I started looking around the engine for a vacuum leak, and all I found that seemed unusual when I was feeling around the vacuum lines is that there was a gurgling type noise inside this part:

Anyone have any idea what my problem is here?

Thanks!
