Transfer case and differential being low on fluid.
Drive shaft bearing going out and making noise in the cold.
Defroster vents not fitting correct and rattling
Steering wheel cover becoming deformed
Rear calipers freezing up
Headlights breaking
Wheel sensors becoming rusted and causing faults
Blend door failing
speakers blowing

well I just picked one up cheap a 2002. the drivers door lock does not lock and once put in gear makes a sound like it is locking 3 or 4 times but the drivers door remains unlocked and the manual knob on the inside of the door handle stays in the locked position.

the water pump is leaking.

the hood shocks are worn out.

the car makes a beeping sound for the first 60 seconds while driving.

let me know if anyone knows the exact quick fix for the beeping and door locks. thanks...

bgr, the water pump is a really easy thing to change out on this car. After doing it, you will wonder why you waited so long.

As for the door lock issue, it is the latch mechanism in the door that is binding up and not pulling the cable to move the door latch. So, you need to get in and clean up the door latch really good and then apply some lube to the latch to ensure everything moves easily.

05xtypeee, the transfer case issues are more common in the 02-03 years, but the 04+ years are not immune to it. Everything else is pretty much standard throughout all the years.

Cel, yes, the AWD X-Types have the transfer case. If you have the diesel variant, it is only 2wd and therefore does not have a transfer case. But, any X-Type that you find in the USA will be AWD as jaguar did not import any diesel or 2wd X-Types to the US.

Bgr, I also had troubles with my door locks and ended up having to buy a new door actuator and install it. I bought it off of ebay for about $50 from a junkyard. That's what you will have to do if the lube doesn't work, but the lube is necessary in both cases

Also, the beeping probably has something to do with the door lock problem. I will drive mine with the door ajar and see if it beeps at me.

I bought mine cheap also...i had/have some issues but don't regret it one bit!...the more you fix...the better it rides, unlike new cars which just get worse over time.

My 2003 had the liquid filled "aft" lower control arms leak all the fluid out. Come to find out, it happens after 10 years down here in Florida.
