Default Console armrest replacement.

When I got my car the center tray in the console armrest was missing. I bought a used one from ebay that had the rear trim piece missing. Then noticed that the trim piece was also missing on my armrest. Is this piece available? Also the sliding leather armrest on mine is better then the replacement one. Is there a way to remove the sliding piece?

Yes the arm rest does come. Lift up the arm rest. Pull out the insert, and there should be a few screws holding it down.

under the slide part. If you lift it up there is 2 screws next to the hinge. The slide and the console is one part.

Figured it out. Removed the leather pad and swapped them out. After some good cleaning the armrest looks great and works great!

Default Console armrest replacement

Guys I need additional help with this. Mine is an XJ 350 but this is the closest post I could find to what I'm trying to do. I can't figure it out, although it may be simple. I don't want to break it trying.
I've attached photos showing what I'd like to do. I've read every post regarding armrest. I have a 2004 XJ8. The center armrest is cracked badly. I purchased a used replacement on Ebay. I'd like to use the lower part of my existing armrest and attach the new pad to my sliding mechinism. It that possible? If so, how. Please be specific. I am not "handy" but need to be. If I need to relocate this post, let me know. Thanks, streamsaver
