Cooling fan control module replacement help needed!
Hi all!
I had a diagnostic done on my cooling system after a leak.
The shop told me the power and ground to the cooling fan control module was good and the fans still would spin when tested past the module but I needed to replace the module to turn the fans as it has crapped out.
How hard of a job is this to do myself bc it looks like there’s lots of room when he showed me from under the car.
I called the junk yard and they have a cooling fan module with the fans included for $150. Can I replace just the model without the fans if need be or do I need to swap with the fans included?
Any link to the workshop Manual to change the cooling module Would also be very appreciated! Any other tips or suggestion are also welcome!
Thanks for the help all!!

There was two styles of module, I think the change was for the 2005 model year. The later style can be retrofitted to the earlier style with some wiring changes.
The module is bolted to captive nuts in the fan surround, and the problem is that the bolts are often seized. They face forward, so catch all the water and muck thrown up from the road. Every one I have tried to remove the nuts simply breakout of the surround and don't undo. The surround is a kind of plastic-fiberglass hybrid, so fairly brittle. Officially, you need to replace the whole fan-module assembly as a unit, and that's probably why.
It's not easy to change, the fan assembly comes out the bottom and there is only just barely enough room to do it. It's a couple hour job, even with the car on a hoist. You have to be be very careful not to damage the air conditioning condenser, it's right next to the fan assembly. You will need to remove the undertray, the radiator support, drain the radiator and remove the lower rad hose. Often those rad support bolts are corroded in place, so use an impact wrench on them, as that is the way to get out rusty bolts with the least chance of breaking them off. If you use a ratchet or breaker bar you'd almost certain to shear off a few bolts if they are rusty - and on an Ontario car we can pretty much be certain they are rusty.
