Default Cooling system pressure test

I've been trying to chase down a coolant leak on my 3.0 x-type. I have a Stant pressure tester that I've used on multiple vehicles over the years. The x-type is the first one where it didnt work for me. The coolant reservoir tank vents in a different way such that pressurizing the system fails because all the air escapes through the overflow vent. I stuck a zip tie down the vent to plug it enough to where it held enough pressure to find the leak if I pumped like mad but the air still bleeds out. Because of the leakage, I cant pump it up and walk away yo check on it later. Has anyone run into this and have a workaround?

That adapter is for testing the cap which isnt my issue and I currently have what appears to be the identical pump but mine is from Stant.

The 2nd link more or less confirms that a conventional pressure pump wont work. I guess I can rig up the leakdown tester to replicate what they did to pressurize the system

The header tank has a double seal, if you look at the cap you will find a rubber O ring half way down that seals the tank. the upper part seals against the top of the tank. the gap between is where the overflow goes when the cap pressure sensor detects a pressure greater than 15psi.

to use a pressure tester the sealing rubber needs to reach down to the area that the rubber O ring goes into, normal they are a tapered cone and not just a flat seal on the top.
