Reservoir

The consensus indicates that Harbor Freight has the best pressure testing kit for compatibility with Jaguars.

Have a read through this: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...adaptor-78352/

I have never used one myself as I've been lucky and been able to visually spot the leaks.

Cheers,

Stu

At the expense of sounding completely stupid, where is the header tank?

Can't resist a late April fools joke. The header tank is underneath the header tank cap.

On a serious note I have attached a screen shot from the parts manual from SNG Barratt.

Interesting thought of using the thermostat housing. I would have two concerns one is finding the correct test fitting to fit and the other is reinstalling the cap properly when done.

This is what I did to pressure test one of our XJ8’s recently. I have not tried it on the XK8 but I would imagine it would work the same. Instead of buying a pressure test kit I would only use every once in a great while, I instead took a few minutes and rigged up a simple hose and schrader valve that I could attach a bicycle pump to, and it worked like a charm.
