geewilicurs, based on your error code (P1699), this is saying that there is no communication between the ECM and the A/CCM module. So, this leaves you with a break in he CAN bus between either the ECM and the TCM or the TCM and the A/CCM module. Since you are not talking about the car shifting funny or seemingly stuck in a gear, I would think that you can rule out the ECM to TCM CAN bus. So, this leaves the A/CCM to TCM connection. Based on ease, I would pull the radio and see if things look good there. See if you can spot some damaged wiring in that area.

I think he did say he was still having problems shifting. Originally out of park the latest post he didn't elaborate on "still not shifting on it's own".

Dell, slight difference here, Is the tranny having problems shifting as the car is being driven (this would be a problem between the ECM and TCM) or is he having problems shifting the J-Gate out of park and having the car acknowledging it? 2 different issues. The second would be a communication issue between the J-gate and the A/CCM module assuming that the tranny shifts normally.

Sorry guys my Bad. Yes the tranny is still stuck in Park and I have to manually push the little white plunger under the shifter to get it out of Park and then it shifts fine.
In lurking through the JTIS it is advising the G test for the Can link missed communication. The codes thrown in order are:
p1796,p1797,p1582,p1699 then U1900 can communication bus failure.

Hope this helps and is more clear to all.
Again thank greatly for all the help.

Well after much help from everyone here especially Thermo and Dell! All is back working on the Jag! Yea!

The final climate control issue and transmission shifter was the fuse a 7.5 inside central panel position 79 I believe.

For someone like me up in age and a bad back to boot, getting under the dash on drivers side to check fuses is next to almost impossible! Not to mention having to deal with all the wires cables and relays to get around under there! But it is done and now I am heading to lay down on my heating pad! Until the next problem again

Thank You!

Yeah, that fuse box for aging (& yup back like jello as well) is the fuse box from hell. I took a pic with my camera, blow it up to orient where I need to go before becoming a contortionist to get at it.
