Default CV axles

hi everybody,
two weeks ago I start hearing a"clicking"metal on metal sound from the front side of the car while accelerating and while braking, only with low speeds 20-30 mph.
when I inspected the car ,noticed that both left and right CV axles had quiet some up and down "freeplay",especially the right one, which I can easyly move +- 3mm up and down.
So I guess I have to replace both.?
?when I replace the CV axles do I have to replace anything else in the transfercase?
Or can we just take the old axles out ,putting the new ones in??
any advice would be apprecited
thanks

The left one is easy. The right side is a huge pain. I did mine recently and posted about it. I'll look for that and link to it here. Do you have the manual? JTIS?

The main thing is whatever you do don't pull that intermediate shaft on the right hand side out of the transfer case. That's a bad day when that happens. And it wants to come out really easy. If it pops loose just pop it back in there.
