Default CV joint replacement

Both my front CV joints need to be replaced (light knocking on full lock) on my 03 with 115k. I've got the parts (complete front halfshafts) but I can't get my JTIS CD to work.

Has anyone changed these?

Could someone either post instructions, or better, post the JTIS instructions (or could be emailed to me). I just want to make sure I don't have half the job done only to come across a major issue.

Cheers,

Dale

No response to this! Come on guys, surely someone has some experience with this.

Oh, just about to watch Ireland in the rugby world cup. It would be nice if we could get into the semi-finals.

Answers please!!!!

dalecan, I am in the same situation as you with not being able to use my JTIS to get detailed instructions on how to do things. Overall, it is going to be very similar to that of other cars that are FWD. The only difference that I am aware of is that you have to slide the half shaft in and out of the transfer case and there is a special process on doing this. If you don't follow this process (don't recall what it is), you end up trashing a seal inside the transfer case. Hopefully someone else can give a little more insight into this.

The right side axle shaft needs to be removed without disturbing the splined shaft the goes through the transfer case. The inner tripode part of the axle needs to levered from the shaft (a wedge might be need to be driven between the 2 axle parts) and the lower ball joints need to be disconnected to swing the strut for clearance. The outer CV can be driven through the hub like any FWD car. The left inner is the same as most Japanese axles (held in with a retainer clip) as it is a Japanese gearbox (JATCO JF506E) after all.

Thanks for the responses lads. It's a shame no one could be a little more detailed. I'll have to give this more thought.
