Default Daft Question

I have two X types,
a 2002 2.5 manual, 17" plus sun roof and extra bits of wood, 101,000 miles
a 2004 2.5 manual 16" plus basic (back seat does not tip), 120,000 miles

I love them both and totally different personalities. The 2002 has a soft ride a bit like big Jags. The 2004 is very sporty, but not a sports ed.

We have very poor roads in Duluth MN, and the front of the 2002 is getting clunkier, rattlier and noisier. The local shop -very good but not Jaguar- says everything at the front checks out in terms of the proper operation of the car.

I'm thinking of taking it to JLR in the Twin Cities and saying make it sound as tight and quiet as the 2004.

Is this a forlorn hope? Should I accept the 2002 is getting old, or is it worth asking the pros?

Many thanks in advance.

The 2002 does have the "better" (more reactive) viscous AWD coupling, and less miles.

I'd pump the money into 'er.

It will be a true Classic Car sooner than the other one, also!

I'm a little jealous of your manual transmissions. Rock solid reliable.

Mine is a 2002, with some inexpensive updated grilles.

I remember seeing Gillingham back on the 70s at Brentford.
Now in Central Florida.

Check strut bearings on the front.

Default Thanks

Thanks guys,

Nice looking car Bud. I think my 2004 has the older system since I have the coin holder and no TC!

Cheers Flyrr 100. You must be glad the "Special One" has returned.

Thanks for the suggestion Bud. It sounds like there is no reason why they can't get her tight and quiet so long as I am ready with readies.

Thanks again guys.
