Hi, i got my X-Type 2002 3 months ago from a guy in Japan to Zim and it came with a black box thingy on the dash. Does anyone know what this thing is?

 

I would venture to guess that he had some sort of satellite radio setup in the car. After that, you would need to follow the wire down and see what plug is on the other end. You take a picture of the plug and I can possibly tell you what it goes to with a bit more accuracy. Also, if you look on the underside of that box, you may find some writing. If you can put that writing here (or take a pic of it), that may also help me give you a more accurate idea of what it is for.

 

aftermarket anti theft device for the hood leaper....it puts 50,000V thru the leaper.... i have the same set-up, thats how i know...its very very very top secret...ssssshhhhhh

 

anti theft device, yeah i wish. I actually want to get that installed. I contacted the seller and he told me its a toll gate thingy that only works in Japan so for me, it looks like its a decoration thing now
