Dead battery?

Dead battery?
just got the car
when he arrived, the car would not restart after being shut down, he told me the battery was toast...he bought a portable jump starter with him, it started right up with the booster and drove fine with no "battery light" illuminated.
Sound like a dead battery?

iownme, odds are, yes, it is the battery. A quick check that I would tell you to do is to open the hood and connect a multimeter across the battery and position the multimeter where you can see it. With the key removed, you should be sitting at 12.6 VDC. If you are not, place the battery on a charger and see if you can get it up to 12.6 VDC. If it won't get there, battery is toast. Once at 12.6 VDC, attempt to start the car. Does the multimeter drop below 11.0 when cranking the engine. If yes, bad battery. Replace. If not, you are looking at a bad starter or a bad battery cable. Odds are, because the car starts with a jump, you would be looking at a bad cable. Fairly cheap to fix and not that difficult.
Hope this helps.
