Her Jag, first off, welcome to the FOrums. Lots of good information here and lots of people willing to help. We do ask a small favor from you. We pride ourselves in being a better car group and as part of this, we like to keep things lively and getting to know one another. As part of this, please stop by the New Member Section and tell us a little bit about yourself and the car. This will also give you a chance to meet those that make this place what it is.
As for your problem. Based on what you are saying, it is sounding like the computer is not seeing the door lock state for your front passenger door. The computer actually locks the doors one at a time, not all at the same time like a lot of other cars do. So, when a door fails to lock, it stops the sequence on the door that is having issues and doesn't lock any additional doors. So, in your case, the computer starts with the driver's door then moves on to the front passenger door. It would then move on to the driver's rear door and ending with the rear passenger door.
So, odds are, you are looking at either the switch in the door for the lock is stuck or you have an electrical issue with the solenoid doing the passenger front door. If you stick the key in the driver's door and you roll it to the right, do all the doors lock? If so, then that would prove the wiring to the solenoid is good and therefore your problem lies in the lock position switch. If the door doesn't lock, then most likely you are looking at a bad door lock solenoid or its associated wiring.
