Question double locking

Up to yesterday I was able to "double lock" my X type by pressing the central locking button twice. According to the handbook double locking provides an extra level of protection. As of yesterday nothing happens when I press the lock button the second time - it only single locks now.
Is there a setup trick that i don't know about that disables the double lock function? Or is my security system playing up?

I tried pressing the lock and unlock buttons as per step 2-6 but this only changes the unlock method (it changes from single driver's door to all door unlock) - the double lock feature is still not working....

If your car is from the production for the US or Canada, there is no double locking! I confess to being ignorant of the location of Queanbeyan 😀

OK, the car is in Australia…which may or may not (meaning that I do not know) have the double locking system used in some markets. Canadian and US cars do NOT have this system.

To clarify the possible confusion, the locking system on North American cars can be set to lock and unlock so that one press unlocks all doors OR one press unlocks only the driver’s door. That is not the issue in this thread.

Cars for other markets have a double locking system whereby the second press of the button makes it impossible to unlock the doors from inside the car. This means that a passenger cannot escape from the car…useful for police vehicles…

Default It fixed itself

After about 3 weeks of double locking not working (it would only single lock) the problem has mysteriously solved itself without my intervention
The double locking now works. I did nothing to fix it. It fixed itself. Quite mysterious and strange, but welcome. Hopefully it will stay fixed.

I don't think that was the issue as iy single locks and unlocks with no issues.

Talking

I think I worked out why the double lock wasn't working - recently I tried opening the passenger front door while the car was (single) locked and the alarm went off. Turns out the door lock wasn't closing even though the lock lights flashed. I think this is what was keeping the double lock from working because I manually forced the passenger lock closed and after that all locks worked properly and the double locking started working again.....

Aha. If it happens again you know where to look first.
