Default Drive-train warning

Ever since the weather has turned cold up here in the North East, I've noticed that when I start off in the morning, my red dash light for "Drive/Tranny Failure" turns on. Once the car is warmed up, I pull over, turn the car off and wait a few seconds, and voila! no more light. But my question is this: Why do I have to turn then car off to get the light off? Shouldn't it shut offautomatically by itself once the car reaches temperature, or am I asking for too much?[]

I would think because the fluid gets "thicker" with the cold, and thereforethe tranny is under more strain? Just a guess. What say you?

off the top of my head I don't know. I do know that I have had my car in 5 degree weather and have never seen that light come on. since the weak points in this car are the tranny and TC case I would be worried. Does the car shift OK when you are driving with this light on?

I know exactly what your going though! It's a senser on your tranny! When I bought my x-type, the same thing was happening, so
I told the dealership to check it and they ran the codes, replaced the senser, and all better! good luck.[sm=icon_cheers.gif]
