Default Driver side door mirror heavy vibration/movement

Hey guys, my drivers side door mirror rattles/vibrates around a bit on slow speeds and really bad at high speeds. its doing my head in!!

I have electrically controlled mirrors and power fold mirrors (both work fine by the way.)

Any insturctions on how to open and what is wrong with it, is there some screws to tighten or what? Pictures would be nice if possible or a diagram perhaps of how to fix..? Its just the actual mirror not the whole thing.

I'm not quite sure how they are affixed on the X, on some of my other older cars they (mirror) were just glued onto the backing. The glue gets old and cracks/deteriorates and the mirror comes off. I'm assuming the X is the same although I am not sure. In the meantime, maybe you should take this opportunity to apply some duct tape to the edges to keep the mirror from falling off until you can get it fixed. I know it will look like ***** but you won't break the mirror.

OR is it the mirror and the backing that are vibrating together?

Its just the actual mirror that is vibrating. I don't think it will come off and when I move the mirror all towards the car via the control then from the outer side I can slightly see that is hocked onto something, don't think its stuck on...

Maybe a tech will chime in here or someone who has had them off. I haven't and sorry I'm not going to take one off to find out!

Asking a salvage yard might help....

Did a little searching for ya - maybe one of these will help:

Karl knows his stuff - he indicates it is bonded to the backing
