drivers electric window
Got in my X type this morning ... flicked the switch and the window went down nice and quiet.... got to work .. flicked switch again to close window which it did sort off ...but with lots of crunching and a loud bang.
I'm assuming this is the window regulator at fault ....I dont want to open the window again until I've got a possible fix ready.. Does any one know of a vid or pictures of how the regulators come out.
Is this part that is 'shared' with a Mondeo or are they different...be nice if they were as mondy regulators are cheap as chips brand new.
thanks for any help .

greenestate: I don't know if X-Types and Mondeo's use the same window regulators, but for X-Type's they're not difficult to find at recyclers. Search part number C2S45944 (same part in Saloons and Estates). Here's a UK recycler for 27 GBP (37 USD):

greenestate: A trick to replace a window regulator........
Raise the window mostly to the top so you can access the old regulator. Clamp two short pieces of wood inside the window with the bottom of the wood resting on the window ledge inside the door. The wood supports the window so it won't fall after you remove the old regulator, and makes it easy to install the new regulator.
I can't take credit for this trick as it, along with the attached picture, are from a Toyota Sienna forum.

Thanks guys... I'll be using the wood and clamps trick for sure .
I found a regulator in a breakers for £18 in the end and have ordered a repair kit £7 for the one that comes out ...so I can hopefully have a spare if the existing one is repairable.
Hopefully I'll tackle the job Wednesday as I've got pre-op appointment tomorrow for my hernia operation.
