Default Drivers seat wooble/play

I have a 2003 X type. The drivers seat seems to have some play in in. It tips back and forth, front to back as the car accelerates and brakes. It feels like the bolts holding the seat to the frame are loose but they are not. Am waiting for warmer weather to take the seat off and see what is up but was hoping someone out there has some insight as to possible cause.

Thanks

Mine does the same thing. Very frustrating (manual trans). Also haven't fixed it yet because the weather sucks in Ohio! It more than likely is whats called the front seat stabilization kit. There was a tsb from Jaguar on this problem. Basically a short squat spring under the seat that gets worn out. http://www.jagrepair.com/images/TSB/...tion%20Kit.pdf

Mine does it slightly front to back, its ever so slightly...I take the play out by adjusting the seat ever so slightly and it stops...could be bolt related not sure.

The rocking seat is caused by execssive axial play in one of the power set motors. The seat stabilizer kit is just a band-aid fix for the real problem - and it's stupid expensive.

I had the same problem with my power driver seat. The manual passenger set was fine.

If you remove the driver seat, you should be able to determine which motor is causing the problem by pulling and pushing in the seatback while feeling the motors for movement.

The motor can be removed and disassembled fairly easily. I used brass shim stock to fill the gap between the end of the motor shaft and the end bearing surface. It may take a few tries to get it right, but once you eliminate the end play, the seat will not rock.

I had the same problem and my seat was squeaking a lot too. Turns out there was a weld in the back rest which was broken and what was causing the seat to rock back and fourth on acceleration and de acceleration was a broken mount on one of the seat motors. I found a local guy parting out his jag and picked up the seat for $100 cdn. Kind of a bonus seeing as the seat was mint and it has lumbar support which mine didnt have. I connected all the wires and the lumbar works.

Default Battery disconnect

I'm also having the seat wobble/rocking issue, along with the bottom cushion not going up or down on either front or rear. My question is when removing the seat, is it necessary to disconnect the negative lead from the battery? Thanks in advance.
