So lately the DSC system fault light comes on when I start the car, if I shut it down and restart it it goes away. The car drives normal no issues at all. No codes are stored that I was able to read. anyone have this issue before?

msos, have you checked the rear speed sensors. Our cars have a common problem with the toothed gears near the hubs rusting and the rings will actually fail, making the sensor not be able to sense the wheel spinning. THe DSC system sees this as a component failure and will trip the DSC error light.

If you need more info, let me know or look in the forums. There's lots of talk about the speed sensor ring.

Default update

Well one thing we noticed is whenever its raining or wet out this DSC Fault pops up. So lately it s been dry and no issues. I poured about 6 gallons of water down the windshield, no faults, took the passenger front tire off poured water on top of the disc. No faults. Did this on the driver side BINGO DSC Fault, now I did pour a few gallons on it and the fault stayed on until Monday, since Saturday. Normally it clears after i restart the vehicle. I tried taking the wheel speed sensor out but it seemed pretty firm in place after removing the screw and didn’t want to force it. There is also some white sensor mounted in the wheel well with a linkage attached to it. Any idea what this is? I can’t find it in the JTIS. Anyone run into this issue? I have extended warranty on the vehicle and trying to avoid the diagnoses time/cost since these policies don’t cover that. Also what is a speed sensor worth? found one site on line http://www.jagbits.com/mm5/merchant.mvc? seems they are 200 plus.....

My 02 X Type 3.0 didnt have DSC but did have a fault at the RHF wheel speed sensor. It turned out to be a short section of wiring that connects the main harness to the hub.Dealer says they sell a lot and only cost £10 for the replacement wiring from them. When the wiring was moved by hand the fault cleared straight away if I remember which pinpointed the cause.I would guess with cars with DSC the wiring issue might bring up the problem you mention.
Good luck

the sensor with the linkage is for the auto-leveling headlights.

The speed sensor for the front wheels should come out of the knuckle if you pry it up gently. I would swap it from side to side or just replace it. It cant be very expensive.

the front wheel bearings have embedded magnets in the dust seal on the inner bearing. this is what the sensor reads. I have had two of these fail on my car, but I dont think your symptoms fit this.
