Default DVD Unit replacement

Dear All!

I have a 2003. X-type with the 3.0 engine, automatic gearbox (left hand drive). Recently the Navigation DVD does not want to load with a message: "The disc installed is not a Nav DVD". I wanted to eject the DVD, but I cannot eject it. I push the button but nothing happens. I am afraid that the entire unit is dead. What do you think?
If it is, then how to replace it? Is it enough if I just buy another unit and my mechanic unplugs the dead one plugs this one is and go or is there a software installation part as well?

Thank you for your help.

Once the DVD nav has been installed in the vehicle it should accept another unit as 'plug&play'. You only need to configure the head unit once.
