Default Sat Nav Com Screen Dead on 06 S type R

hey folks thanks in advance and the NAV screen is dead on my S type R 06 and been trying a few things.... I've got C1, 50, 51 messages too.

Checked the fuse (all good)
Battery reset
Removed the dvd and dvd unit to try and reset things. It won't eject and actually doesn't seem to turn on or do anything.
I can go through the diagnostics on the screen and all the buttons will work...

Thinking I'll try to replace the DVD player unit itself first.

seems like a rather common issue however just wondering if anyone has had their DVD player unit go bad?

Quite a few others on here if you Search. You can try a newer map disc (has newer firmware - available in X-Type forum for free if you look) but it only works sometimes (need new unit if not).

Nod seems like a few on here but with different fixes:solutions. Thanks... I'm guessing it's the actual nav DVD unit in the trunk? The DVD won't load or eject.. Guessing a software update via a DVD won't work? Seems like a dead unit so I guess I'll try a replacement one first... Hoping that's all it is. Hottest day of the year in California and although I can live without a nav it'd be nice to have AC

Well folks just as reference and to help anyone else out... it turned out my DVD player was non functioning. Couldn't get the DVD in/out. Bought a used replacement DVD player, it came alive, slotted in the DVD and the NAV screen fired right up. Case closed

Anyways for those of you out there with a DVD player and DVD that's stuck (won't come in or out and/or spin) this does/can happen....

Now that everything is back to working again just wondering if I should tempt fate and/or order/update the NAV software and if so with which one? What are people using? And where should I buy it?

So in a treadsurrection, my 07 screen has been working mostly but was taking a while to light up upon starting(1-3 minutes) in colder weather (read, <70'F in FLA). Now it's been more consistently off than on. Radio functions as does heat as they're controlled separately. Everything works normally when it lights up. Is this common? I searched but cannot find this precise issue.

And Yes, a new battery made no chakne in symptoms.

do you sdd capabilities....if so, you can run a d2b network diagnostic....otherwise you can pull up the trunk liner near the dvd and amp stack and check your fiber optic connections....all data to the touch screen travels through it i believe
