E brake button

E brake button
It's a minor thing, but to me it's a huge eyesore in an otherwise perfect interior. The chrome finish has mostly chipped away and peeled off of the E brake release button. Now most of the ugly yellowed white plastic is exposed. Some of the chrome finish is still there, mostly around the sides.
Is this button available and easily replaced? If not, I was thinking of a way to maybe paint it? I though maybe I could scrape off the remaining chrome, or maybe just scuff it up with sandpaper and then trying to paint it black. Anything would look better than it is now.
Any suggestions?

I bet about 10 coats of black fingernail polish will simmer down the look of that pronto.
Or carefully paint it with a few coats of that liquid black rubberized tool-handle grip compound available at most any hardware store for about $8. That stuff would really smooth out the rough edges without sanding, too, and probably last forever.
