Early Trunk Latch Replacement
I found out the hard way that there was a TSB to replace the early faulty trunk latches. The new part came, didn't fit and when I went to return it, found the TSB. I only found one picture and info stating that early cars have the 2 bolt faulty latch, then jaguar started provisioning the trunk lit with both a 2 and 3 bolt pattern to accommodate a revised 3 bolt latch but the 3 bolt latch wasn't phased in immediately. Fitting the revised latch on early cars requires drilling 3 new holes. To me this is a little ridiculous but it beats putting a used faulty latch back on the car.
For anyone with an early car and only a 2 bolt pattern here are some additional pictures and info to guide you through.
You'll need the latch, p/n C2S46309 and either an additional torx bolt or short 10mm (head) bolt. Loctite is a good idea too.
All I did was trace the new latch onto a section of paper, cut that out, line it up with the latch bracket, center punch the 3 new hole locations and drill.
Old left vs. new right.
