Default Engine Bay Insulation?

I noticed that the insulation inside my engine bay is falling part, but I don't know what its called or what I can do to fix/replace it. Its the insulation that sits up against the firewall on the inside of the engine bay (I don't know how to attach a pic of it). I think it used to be black, but now looks like a bunch of shredded brown fibrous material fiber perfect for a mouse nest. It looks like it might be the same material as the hood liner. Is there an "official" name for that piece? Is there a part number? What can I replace it with?

Thanks (in advance) for your help. I figured since I'm in there anyway I might as well address it.

Thanks for that, but I actually have the JEPC downloaded. My problem is I don't see a part that looks like what I'm looking for and don't know what its called...or even what heading (?) it would be under.

Mama, odds are, this is something that you will end up getting at the dealership. I am sure if you tell them that you need the "firewall insulation", they will know what you are after. Doing a quick look at the places where I normally look for parts, I didn't see anything like what you are talking about. But, I am sure the dealership will be able to get it for you.

Mama Bear,

You are right about the "mouse". Do to the substantial heat under the hood that material deteriorates more than any other car I have seen. Mice will build there because of the material and the fact that most X-Type owner don't frequently drive the car. I have had the rodent issue. But I haven't changed the insultation yet.

Good Luck...interested t hear the outcome
