engine died for no apparent reason
I hope someone can point me in the right direction. Twice now, about a month apart, I've been sitting at a stop light and the car just died. Radio and lights still work, but the oil and battery light came on. First time it took a couple of tries to start. Second time started immediately. It also didn't want to start one day after being parked for two days. Could this be the alternator on its way out? Or something else? Any help appreciated! Its a 2004 xtype 3.0.

skippy, from the sounds of things, you are looking at a fuel pump starting to go. Granted, I would think that you would be having issues with acceleration too since you would need additional gas, leading to the fuel pump not being able to feed the engine enough fuel. It could also be a power issue with the ECM. A momentary power loss would cause the coils to loose power, which would then shut down the engine. Are you getting any codes (ie, check engine light remaining on after you restart the car)? If no, then that would be leading to an ECM issue. If you are loosing power to the fuel pump, you should be getting something like a lean code or a low fuel system pressure code.
