Default Car booked in for tomorrow

But if the voltage is closer to 12V, then the problem could originate in the ECM or the temperature sensor.
DW, I booked the car into the auto electrician today, I'm taking the car to them tomorrow where they will check the fan control module. I tried to contact Dr Dome re the control module but so far have heard nothing (it is the week-end). Hopefully it won't turn out to be too expensive.

Hi Graham,

Am having the same problem with my 05 X Type, was looking around online and see this help forum. What was the outcome, was it the Fan Control Module?

Default Control Mod

Yes it was the control mod. I do have some on the shelf if you need one. I just need your year jag so you get the right one.

Thanks,
The Dr

I have a 2006 x-type with a 3 liter engine and my fan will not turn off. Have replaced the FCM twice and no change. Removed the ECM today, and even with that completely disconnected, the fan comes on full blast when the battery is connected. Until just recently, the car would start and run under this condition, but it now won't start and is showing "transmission fault". About ready to have it towed to dealer. Could I have bought two bad FCM's in a row?

If you bought the cheaper internet ones = yes. Look at the ones from Rock auto, etc. To get an OEM one.

Also, member Dr. Dome has used and tested modules he sells. He's a great source for parts.
