engine malfunction light on
Hello everyone,
This morning my engine malfunction light was on,I checked the diagnostic codes and there were 10 of them-0300,0302,0303,0304,0305,0306,1313,1314,1316 and 1111 I erased them but I was wondering if anyone can pinpoint what the problem is.I have noticed for the past few days when I started the car in the morning (cold) there was the slight smell of raw gas and there was some smoke coming out of the exhaust not very noticeable but I saw it ,I don't know if it is because it was a little chilly around 50 degrees farenheit.I have a 2003 x-type 3.0l any input is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.after car warms up it drives fine.
Thanks again,
Steve in vegas

Steve, the 300's and 1300's you are experiencing are all misfire codes (300 = random and 301 to 306, the individual cylinder numbers) that all point back to p0300 below. p1313 & 1314 codes are "Misfire rate catalyst damage Bank 1 & 2" and 1316 is "Misfire excess emission". They too all have the same possible causes as p0300. All I can do is give you the DTCs. You'll need a Tech to help diagnose which of the fuel system, ECM, etc is the actual culprit. Get any strange gas lately?

Hi mohrd,
Thanks for the info,I asked my wife the same thing about the gas she uses the car more than I do and it seems every time she uses it I get a different code popping up.She did use an arco station that I never go to, because the price was right.I told her nat to go there any more.how can I figure out what the actual problem is without going to Jaguar?money is real tight right now my wife was laid off and my salary was cut by 37% so any way I can save a few bucks is appreciated.worst case senario what do you think it is?
Thanks,

Sorry Steve (on so many levels) but I can only give you the possibilities. Not a Tech of any sorts and haven't personally dealt with the same issue. I tried to attach the Alldata stuff on the codes but that didn't work. Maybe I'll try PMing instead. So, wait for a Tech or another member who has resolved the same issue and they may be able to narrow it down perhaps?
With the random misfire and all cylinder misfire codes I would only guess at fuel pressure in the rail rather than individual coil or injector problems or problems with the ECM.
I'm not sure lower grade gas would cause the symptoms but seems funny. Is your wife filling with premium gas (high octane)?
